The Mental Health Index is a tool developed by Conduent Healthy Communities Institute and part of the SocioNeeds Index® Suite. It is a measure of socioeconomic and health factors correlated with self-reported poor mental health.
All zip codes, census tracts, counties, and county equivalents in the United States are given an index value from 0 (low need) to 100 (high need). To help you find the areas of highest need in your community, the selected locations are ranked from 1 (low need) to 5 (high need) based on their index value.
This index combines multiple socioeconomic and health indicators into a single composite value. As a single indicator, the index can serve as a concise way to identify which areas are of highest need and why you may need to focus your efforts on those areas. Let the index help you tell your story and collaborate in your community!
