Conduent’s Food Insecurity Index (formerly SocioNeeds Index®) was first developed in 2021 based on available indicators with correlations to food access. In 2024, Conduent HCI updated its methodology for the index to consider our current library of indicators with consideration of more recent studies and publications about factors impacting food insecurity.
Based on a rigorous analysis of indicators available at multiple geographic levels (i.e., county, zip code), Conduent’s Food Insecurity Index methodology includes component indicators related to education, financial stability, household environment, and personal transport expenditures. This methodology change provides an improved correlation between the index and poor food access.
